Launching “Experiencias”
For this project, I asked my model, a musician, to play me all her new songs, so I could analyze the lyrics, the rythm and the voice tone. While I listened, I was imagining a concept that covers all the songs in general, but also I wanted to have one photo for each song. After I finished listening, I could tell that the songs seemed to be growing in terms of feelings, so my photographs would also be progressive until I reached the final image, the one that came to my mind in the first impression.
I was lucky to find images that helped sell my concept in moments, and later with more time, I began to think about the type of lighting, make-up, positions and expressions. Facial gestures were the most important in these photographs.
Se me solicitó realizar una sesión de fotos para la portada del primer disco musical de una artista peruana. Por lo que, solicite a la cantante escuchar todas sus canciones y asi analizar la letra, el ritmo y su tono de voz. Mientras escuchaba atentamente iba imaginando un concepto que cubra todas las canciones en general pero a la vez, buscaba que cada canción tenga su propia foto. Las canciones parecían ir creciendo en sentimientos, por eso, mis fotografías deberían de tener el mismo efecto, llevando de esta manera a la última canción que tiene el quiebre de todo el disco.
Tuve la suerte de encontrar imágenes que ayudaron a vender mi concepto en instantes, ya posteriormente con más tiempo comence a pensar en el tipo de iluminación, de maquillaje, las posiciones y las expresiones. Los gestos faciales sería lo más importante en estas fotografías.

To warm up, we started taking other pictures, so we were gradually getting into the feelings that we needed to have for the final pictures. The following photographs are the extras of the main concept.
This is a good technique to make sure that your model is focused and comfortable with the camera and the environment.
Para ir entrando en calor, fuimos tomando otras fotografías con la finalidad de ir haciendo sentir cómoda a la cantante y también nos ayudaba a que ella se concntrara en el sentimiento que se quería transmitir durante la sesión fotográfica.
Las siguientes fotografías son las extras del concepto principal. Esta es una buena técnica para asegurarnos que la modelo está concentrada, para esta sesión utilizamos un playlist que la ayudaba a relajarse y tener los sentimientos a flor de piel.
As soon as I had the perfect lighting set, and the place where the model must be so she doesn’t come out of focus, and most importantly, she is in the mind-set to be able to interpret the feelings expressed by the lyrics of her songs, we begun to work. The next photographs are the finals, the same ones she used for the launch of her musical project.
Apenas se tuvo la iluminación perfecta, el lugar exacto donde ella debía de estar (en cuanto a distancia focal) y a la modelo mentalizada para poder interpretar los sentimientos que expresan las letras de sus canciones, comenzó a trabajar. A continuación, muestro las fotografías finales que se usaron en el lanzamiento del proyecto musical de la artista.
